Navigating through Algebra and Geometry in Grades 4-8

 

This course will address the algebra and geometry concepts underlying learning activities for math classrooms. The emphasis will be on deepening the participant’s content knowledge, problem solving abilities, and appreciating the mathematical richness in a diversity of approaches. We will use the NCTM Navigating series as a resource.

Dates: 8/ 6-10; 8:00-3:30

Math Perspectives Assessing Math Concepts Institute

 

The Math Perspectives Assessing Math Concepts (AMC) Institute is an in-depth study of how children learn number concepts. Participants spend the week immersed in looking at children’s thinking and learning to identify student’s instructional needs. Participants will learn to AMC developed by Kathy Richardson. Their experiences will allow them to use the assessments in classrooms and enable them to assist others in their use.

Dates: 8/6-10; 8:30-3:30

     2 fall follow-up sessions
